"It is a perfect time for Africa to seek financing for gas projects..." Mr. Victor Eromosele  :::  "The solid minerals sector has remained backward for a very long time..." ISSUE 01, 2007

The oil and gas sub sector has become so worrisome lately especially with the blowing up of some oil pipelines in the Niger Delta. Its getting riskier by the day to have any deaf, dumb and blind stakeholders in the industry. If we cant do this oil business in peace, a great majority will suffer. All we are saying : give peace a chance.

As concerned petroleum consumers , reading our interview with Toba Shinkaiye, secretary Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (I.P.M.A.N) Lagos State, is quite an eye opener. Find out amongst other things why the pump price of petrol can never be the same across the country (as long as the government's present sharing formula still stands!)

The appeal of this magazine is in its variety and a great commitment to usher readers into a world where they will have access to people and institutions that control the black man's saving grace energy deposits- in Africa. From native Africa we will traverse the world. Join us.

EnergyNewsTM has come to stay, believe me. This second issue shows the strength of our focus. We decided to talk to the DG of Petroleum Resources Engr. Tony Chukwueke. Yes, the Petroleum Industry is witnessing a lot of changes and you need to be properly informed.

Our interview with the Managing Director of Dunlop Mr. Muhammad Yinusa reveals amongst other things what manufacturers go through in Nigeria. Pressing issues affecting other sectors of energy are also given worthy mention in this issue. In the tit-bits pages, you will find various news that affect the energy sector.

We have not forgotten the paths of history and innovation as we take the story How Coal Works. The Giant of Africa, Nigeria, has crude oil and EnergyNewsTM is here to capture all the events. Added to these are latest developments on the global energy scene. Have an interesting read.

ISSUE 03, 2007

In this edition I want to let you know about our guiding philosophy, and to share with you my experiences with such newsroom marshals as the late great Dele Giwa and his colleagues Dan Agbese, Ray Ekpu, and Yakubu Mohammed. Words smiths, they were;

Call it nostalgia, but the memories of our early newsroom days return each time I happen upon those insightful philosophical discourse of yesteryears. What ever happened to some of those other great writers of that era? Allah dey, Sonala Olumhese, Jemie Onwuchekwa etc

And if you will allow for publishers license, Dan Agbese will take us down memory lane "on an Electric Leash."

The journey to the electric power market has been quite interesting. We are indeed living in interesting times and living out the Chinese curse...

However, we found one chief who actually stepped outside, saw the dark countryside, and decided to do some thing about it. Welcome to Rivers state… welcome to Omoku…welcome to Trans Amadi …Welcome to Eleme. By the way, did your state government build any power plants? Alternatively, do you know any individuals who have? My son would say ….Please read and enjoy…
